We support leaders

Since 2018, Holistic Leadership & Life Research Centre has inspired many leaders and their organizations in various fields through organic, interpersonal, and systematic leadership development. We are committed to diligently engaging in research and communication to support leaders who are called to serve the generations. It is also our dedication to inspiring individuals who need mentoring and coaching in their various aspects of life.

David Kang, President and Founder of HLLRC

He is passionate about building up lives and caring for the hearts where the mysterious pathways connect people internally and externally. He started his academic training in Rehabilitation (Yonsei University, S Korea) and continued to Master of Divinity (Ambrose University, Canada). His devoted mind to studying leadership and life led him to complete his doctorate study (Doctor of Ministry in leadership in global perspectives) at Nyack College, New York, NY. While staying in California, he extended his Ph.D. study in Family Ministry, consisting of psychologies and counselling.

In addition, his distinctive experiences in churches and businesses have led him to shape his perspectives and approaches in leadership and life called the Holistic Leadership & Life Development. He values creating a place publicly and individually to discuss challenges and blessings in leadership and life. He lives in Calgary, Canada, and appreciates the nature and the inspiration of the Rocky Mountains with his loving family.

"At the time I met him, David Kang was a pastor at First Alliance Church.  I was immediately comforted by his warmth and dignity and, even before I understood it myself, David had discerned what I needed.  Thereafter he gently led me on a life-changing journey to freedom and wholeness.  David unstintingly shares his kindness, faith, and insight in the service of others. These gifts inform his unique approach to leadership, friendship, pastoring, and teaching.  I heartily recommend his spiritual guidance in each of these areas."

Holistic Leadership & Life Research
Centre’s Philosophy

HLLRC’s philosophy is built on an inspiration that equips and builds up people to experience personal renewal to lead the communal revival. A leader uses personal influence and sacrifices to bring social change and benefit others (Davis, 2016). Leadership is to inspire others in various fields to inspire multiple people groups. HLLRC believes leadership development is the organic process of integral growth throughout the leader’s life to influence one’s generation and the coming generations positively. It is systematically relational with others and their cultures and integral to the leader’s heart and life.

The guided inspiration can be given to us through various instruments in our mundane life, such as nature, art, music, readings, conversations, and travels, initiating a personal renewal to ignite a generational revival. We believe that the leader’s life becomes the most inspirational when they gain holistic learning experiences in life, work, heart, mind, body, spirit, and relationships.

Characteristics of the Holistic Leadership Development

  • Developmental: each stage of life in the leader’s journey requires distinctive perspectives and implementations.

  • Intentional: to learn, develop and grow individually and with other leaders

  • Inspirational: learning and processing various inspirations

  • Interpersonal: creating and developing a learning environment for the leader and others in a multigenerational context

  • Disciplined: reading, listening, pondering, organizing, and sharing what the leader has learned and been guided

  • Strategic: daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal learning strategies

  • Integrational: various fields’ approaches, perspectives and
    applications

Missional Objectives

  • Leaders must master how to care for their souls with a personalized and holistic-developmental process guided by various inspirations identified with spirituality and mundane life.

  • Leaders must stay connected with the people or resources where they can continuously grow in the integrated personal and global perspectives and recontextualization in various aspects of daily walks.

  • Leaders must be able to provide resources and growth opportunities for their followers and communities to grow further.

  • Leaders must know how to invest and engage with the next generations to pass down the inspiration identified with the distinctive calling for the future.
